Vital Disorders were a female-led band active in Norwich c.1979-85, whose musical style took in new wave, funk and dub. Suzy Cox (vocals / trumpet / sax), John Thirkettle (drums) and Chris Hawkins (bass) were the constants in an ever-changing line-up which at various times also included Mandy McKenna (keyboards / vocals), Gloria Ojulawu (percussion /vocals) and Ruth Barrett (percussion / vocals). They also at times shared members with Carl Gustav and the 84s and Kamikaze Sex Pilots; the nearly-complete output of all three bands is collected on the compilation CD Vital Disorders: A Complicated History.
